The Nunavut Bilingual Education Society (NBES) is a community-based, non-profit society concerned with the preservation, protection, and promotion of Inuit oral history, cultural knowledge, and language.
NBES supports Northern communities through several preservation initiatives and projects each year. Most of these projects result in the production of educational resource materials, such as books, websites, and films. NBES has a particular emphasis on the preservation and promotion of the Inuit language.
NBES was created by a concerned group of Nunavut educators, artists, cultural promoters, and storytellers. It is the society’s belief that the cooperation of talented and concerned Nunavummiut will result in Northern educational resources that support Nunavut education and the successful transmission of oral history, cultural identity, and language to future generations.
