Inuktitut Oral Language Assessment Game
NBES is excited to share the Inuktitut Oral Language Assessment Game: A Guide for Caregivers
This assessment game, “Where Is My Animal?,” is a tool designed to help assess children’s oral language skills. Assessment means checking how a child is progressing in a certain area. It is a way to see what a child understands, what they are still learning, and what areas where they still need support.
The game focuses on key language concepts and important affixes like -mi (at), -mit (from), and -mut (to), which can be early indicators of language development.1 By using the assessment game, you will know which concepts a child understands and what to do next if they need support.
This project was funded with the generous support of the Qikiqtani Inuit Association.
